This and That

I was presently surprised how well giving up the nuk has went. She really hasn't asked for it since the second day we took it away. She still likes her blankets when she is tired and always has it pressed to her nose. It's something she has done ever since she was a baby. Our days have been pretty uneventful so there isn't much to blog about so I will share a few random pictures from the past week.
This picture was taken the morning the Nuk Fairy came. She looks like she is up to something, but was excited to play with her new toy.

Maddie and her daddy made brownies the other night. She loves to push her chair up to the counter and is ready to help! It is fun that she is getting a little bigger and can stir or add ingredients. I think we may have a baker on our hands ;)

Tonight, Maddie and I watched Sleeping Beauty, ate popcorn and danced to her sing-a-long video. I love our little girl nights and we have enjoyed relaxing and hanging out since it's raining outside. We have had such a beautiful September and Fall is here! It's my favorite time of year and I'm hoping to take some outdoor pictures this weekend.
Once again it is Bob's weekend to work so us girls don't have much planned. We know that October is going to be a busy month so we will relax, play and enjoy our quiet time.

Bye Bye NUK!!!

Thursday morning Maddie woke up looking for her nuk. It had fallen behind her bed and she couldn't get to it. Bob had gotten up with her and she went with him to use the bathroom. She woke up dry and went on the big girl potty. I was proud of her but we are a little ways from being complely trained. I knew that was my chance to find the nuk and forever be done with it.

We have been talking up the Nuk Fairy for some time now. What is the Nuke Fairy you may ask? The Nuk Fairy comes and takes the nuks and brings them to babies that need them. She replaces the nuk with a present and Maddie knew it was coming soon. When Maddie went with her Dad I knew it was my chance. I jumped out of bed, found the nuk and put her present on her bed. She was excited that she got a present and tried to make this process a positve one.

I was worried how the night would go and was presently surprised how smooth it went. She did ask for her nuk a few times and I kept telling her that she was a big girl and the babies needed her nuks. She snuggled with me for a while and then told me she wanted to go to her bed. I covered her up, turned on her music and didn't hear another word about the nuk....until this morning!!

She did want her nuk this morning and there is no turning back. We have tried to get her focused on something else when she wants her nuk. Popsicles have worked really well and she was excited to go to a friends house today for daycare. That will keep her busy and we will see how tonight and this weekend goes. I know she might have a few rough days, but after that...it's time to focus on potty training. Oh boy!!!!

Fun Visit!

It was Bob's weekend to work so Maddie and I hadn't planned on doing much of anything. It was my goal to go through her closet and dressers and pack up her clothes that were too small. I worked in her room all night until she told me it was time to go to sleep. I covered her up and she was done for the night.
Later in the evening, I received a call from my uncle that they were heading this direction to look at a motorcycle that he was interested in. Dee Ann and Chuck got to our house around two on Saturday afternoon and we waited for Bob to get finished with work. My girlfriend Melanie watched Maddie for us and the four of us went on a little road trip to look at the bike. Our first stop was the casino in Hinkley, MN for dinner at the buffet. It was really good and we left right after we were finished. Dee Ann and I were hoping to get a little time at the outlet mall, which ended up being only 15 minutes since they were closing. It was fine for us and we still seemed to find a few deals and then we were ready to look at the bike.
Chuck and Bob both took turns riding the bike and the deal was done. We trailered the bike back to Superior and got home around 11pm. I picked up my sleeping beauty and it was time for us all to hit the hay. Bob had to work again on Sunday bright and early and Dee Ann and Chuck had a long drive ahead of them.
I took this picture on Sunday morning as they were getting ready to leave and head back to ND. Even though it was a really short visit, we had a nice time together. I'm hoping the next time they come, they will stay longer and bring the kids!

It was Dee Ann's birthday and they needed to get back home. They left by 9am and Maddie and I got ready for church. We had another busy day planned as we were meeting my friends Carrie, Robin and her little girl Whitney. I was really disappointed that I forgot my camera. It was absolutely beautiful and we took a nice walk outside. Maddie and Whitney played as we visited together. The three of us girls had worked together at Menards and it was fun to catch up! We need to do it more often!
It's amazing how fast the weekends go and it's time to go back to work. We just got home from having dinner and glad another Monday is over. I'm not sure what is in store for us this week, but we are enjoying the summer like weather in September. Good night all!

Time with Grandma Phyllis

I'm posting pictures a week late, but better late then never. We had a really nice visit with Bob's mom while we were is Rochester for Labor Day. She is such a sweet lady and will always put a smile on your face.I love to shop for Phyllis and had a few new things for her for Fall. She is always so appreciative and was happy to try everything on. She looks great for her age!

Three Generations!

Maddie loves her Grandma and had to get a little loving before we left.

I took a quick picture of Maddie holding Grandma's hand. She was fascinated with her hands and arms and kept touching her skin very gently. It was really sweet and I started to think about the age difference in those hands and how they have each touched our hearts in a very special way!

Miss Madelyn has officially grown out of her pack-n-play. We bought her a kids sleeping bag with a mattress and she thought that she was pretty "hot" stuff! She had to bring her bed into the living room and show everyone.

I'm glad that Grandma has such a great sense of humor. They looked so cute in their clown noses and interacting with each other. Time spent with her is priceless!

Boating on the mighty Mississippi!!

On Saturday we had to take advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the river. Bob, Maddie and I, CeCe, Tim and Jan were ready for a fun day in the sun. This was Maddie's first time on a boat so we were not sure how she would react. As you can see from the smile on her face...she LOVED it!
CeCe, Maddie and Jan enjoying the ride.

We stopped on a sand bar to visit some friends and let Maddie play on the beach. I couldn't believe how much she loved playing in the river. The girl has no fear and kept wanting to go farther out. She didn't quite understand that it would get deeper the farther she went and then would get mad when she would get water in her ears or face.
For lunch, we went up river and stopped at a place called the Pickle Factory. The food was excellent and we tried deep fried pickle for the first time. They served them with a ranch dip and it was really good! I would definitely try them again.

On our way back, Maddie thought she would try to drive the boat. She has the need for speed and kept telling Mr. Fun (aka Tim) to go faster. It was pretty cute and we all had a great day on the water even if we were a little sun burnt.
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day and enjoyed spending time together!

More Maddie....

We haven't done anything exciting lately so I will have to show just a few more pictures of Maddie so far this week. I can't believe that it is already time to go back to school! It seems like we really didn't have much of a summer. Most of my friends are posting back to school pictures and since we are a few years away from that...here is one of Maddie getting ready to hit the mall!! That's my girl!!Getting comfy and watching one of her many princess movies! She always has to have a blanket to her nose.

Daddy was working late tonight so Maddie and I had a little picnic outside and went for a walk. It was a really nice day and we needed to take advantage of the nice weather. Our neighbors were outside so we stopped by for a little chat. Maddie adores the boys and looks forward to any opportunity to play with them.

It's time to get ready for bed. My sweet girl just told me to put my jammies on so she can snuggle me...I love her soooo much!!
